This is an HBO documentary special that aired last night called “The Battle For Marjah”. It’s an harrowing story of the U.S. Marines’ battle to liberate a key Afghanistan town. Just one year after Operation Mushtaraq, in which U.S. Marines attempt to gain control of the strategically important town of Marjah, Afghanistan, comes this documentary directed by Anthony Wonke. Filmmaker Ben Anderson documented the events in February 2010, revealing the challenges of America’s counter-insurgency strategy.
